Visiting the LUNN Museum
Two weeks have passed since a new chapter of my life began. My classmetes and I got used to students’ lifestyle. It’s time to visit the LUNN Museum.
The LUNN Museum
This is the LUNN Museum. It consists of two rooms. In the first room we can can see a lot of pictures which are illustrated the beginning of Russian history. A special place is taken by the history of Nizhny Novgorod, one of the most important city in Russia. In the second room we can look at many exhibits which connected with University life. Photos with the greatest teachers and talented students are the strongest motivator to learning something new about this world, foreign cultures
The Beginning…
Our University has a very long history. It was opened in 1917 by Max Mikhailovich Landau. That person was the greatest man of his time. He knew eight foreign languages, he got brilliant education. Max Landau laid the foundation for a long and exciting history of our university
At that time, teaching foreign languages was extremely important. The idea of a World Revolution shocked and inspired millions of people. That political strategy required well-educated people especially with knowledge of several foreign languages.
The Second Wold War…
The Second World War is one of the most tragic pages of our history. Millions and millions people defended their Homeland by sacrificing their lives. Every single soldier is a hero of Motherland. We remember their names and honor their greatest feat. Nizny Novgorod is the city of labor valor( “Город трудовой доблести”). Our heroes had worked at factories for all days and nights long. They collected military equipment and sent it to the front. Of course our University lent great help in the fight against the Nazis. The Linguistic University trained the best military translators in the Soviet Union. Those education methods created the best system of teaching a foreign languages in a whole country.
Nowadays…
Today the Nizhny Novgorod Linguistic University is one of the best universities in Russia. A strong school of teaching foreign languages, famous teachers and an active student life make it an excellent guide to a happy life.
I think that every single person should know a history of his or her country, home and Motherland. It is very important because it’s respect for family members, war heroes, culture. Students and teachers try to save the knowledge about our history and pass on it to future generations.
